Hey everyone! I'm very happy to say my Harry Potter month (aka the Month) has been lived to the fullest. But, alas, all good things must come to an end and now that this most special of months is almost over, I thought I'd finally post my reviews of both movie and book.
On the first screening of the opening day (i.e. lunchtime of the 12th) there I was, ready to fangirl a new HP movie in very pleasant company. Who better to accompany a giggly HP-addict than two more of the same kind? I confess I felt a tad nervous and didn't eknow exactly what to expect but, in the end, I had absolutely no reasons to fret, the movie was INCREDIBLE. To me, the best of all 5. Which is why I didn't mind watching it again the day before yesterday! Go me!
I was going to include my Deathly Hallows review on this same post but my Ootp one got a bit out of hand so I'm doing two separate posts and posting the other one later tonight.
I'm currently reading the book but, obviously, since unlike many roaming around the web I'm a DECENT person, I won't say anything.
However, since I had such a great time last night and I'm still bouncing around in excitement, I had to come and vent some of it out lest I implode! The best thing of going to a midnight opening when you're a Potterholic, is having another Potterholic friend to go with you. And I do! I'm such a lucky lass. ;D Yesterday I had my last exam at Uni (and whether or not I graduate depends on whether or not I pass it, but let's not dwell on such terrifying things) so it was, from the start, a pretty stressful day for me. I feared I'd die of a heart attack before midnight came. I felt better when my lovely Potterholic friend told me that she had already been to the bathroom 7 times in the space of an hour cause she was so anxious to get her hands on the book! That made me feel calm by comparison! So around 9pm (cause my friend claimed she couldn't stand to be home another minute) off we went to the mall where the bookstore is located and spent a few hours going through all the clothes stores, checking out the sales.
Around 11h30pm we went inside the precious store holding our precious, already paid for, books! There were a lot of people there already but we managed to get close to the "set" they had prepared for the book's launching. It was like New Year's only much, much worse! I never knew 30min could be such a long freakin time!! They had some actors do some Harry Potter-inspired scene. But it was really, really lame! Srsly. I got to laugh a bit though. And it was annoying. I come bearing low quality videos of it. But then the time came and everyone rushed to get their copy (even though those wanting the children's edition had to wait a bit longer) and it was such a relief when I finally had the book in my hands.
We rushed to the registers (that I have never, in all the years I've been going there, seen so FULL!! OMG! Pics below) where we had the nice surprise of knowing we were going to be given PRESSIES!! I LOVE FREE STUFF!! So it was skipping happily that I returned home carrying not only my much beloved copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows but also a really neat matching bag and a Death Eater figure! I shall call it Lucius and it shall be my friend! Oh what evil deeds we shall perform together! I can now start to plan how to rule the world! MWAHAHAHA! XD
( What do you mean have I taken any pics?? OF COURSE I HAVE!! )

Due to hectic events mainly related to my cousin's wedding this December10th, I haven't had time for anything lately. So, I'll try to catch up on all the latest news of your truly here today in a major f-list spamming event! Ye be warned!
November 27th. A day for teh fun! It was
teresabloom's birthday!! OMG she's been around for 20years!! :O Run!! :P
Anyways, she was nice enough to ask Merry and Pippin, the hobbits terrible XD, out for lunch! That's how we ended up stuffing our faces with different kinds of pizza and pasta in an all-you-can-eat restaurant! (but we didn't eat that much, I swear!! :P)
But let me tell you about getting up at 7h30am so we could be at the mall at 10 o'clock the latest! The things we do for our King! As we still had to wait a bit for her to arrive, we ended up inside Fnac (again!!) where, after finding the limited DVD edition of Green Day live, Pippin solemnly swore to come back for it and even momentarily forgot we were there for birthday-celebration reasons! o.O She's weird! (sorry girl, had to tell!! :P)
The hobbits did bring gifts from the Shire! We presented our King with a decorative flower-shaped pillow. Cuteness! You couldn't help but squeeze the thing! Fluffiness! However, I'm particularly proud of our second gift, even if it was a worthless one. A shoebox. A shoebox which originally held my brother's snickers. Filled up with all sorts of references to our uber-odd "conversations" on msn and private jokes. The best kind of gifts are the thoughtful ones, if I might say so.
When a random person opens that shoebox all that person sees is ridiculous rubbish. A sock, a small pink teddy-bear, pieces of paper, a little key, printed images, a sheep-like key-ring. But when Teté opens it all she sees are memories of the many silly months that've passed since we "met" online. And that's special. It's caring, I guess. So, I hoped you liked it best than the flower pillow, King. XD
Right after lunch it was time to run and watch HP GoF! Let me just say it was hard to get those tickets! We spent a few hours planning how to get them before that Sunday but in the end we just didn't have time so Pippin and I bought them in the morning and thankfully we still managed to get good seats! People were throwing themselves at the tickets like a hungry pack of wolves! And even at 1h10pm there wasn't more than 5 seats available! o.O Hungry for Harry, I guess.
Hey! I'm still alive! I haven't been kidnapped by aliens or anything. :P
I recently came back from my holidays in the Algarve. It was great. Lots of beach in the morning and swimming pool in the afternoons! And sun on my lazy bum! Hahaha! And yummy desserts! :P
Ever since I got back I really haven't been online that much time mainly because my mom's still enjoying her days off which means I can't sit in front of the computer for long. While I'm offline I've been doing a few things envolving going to the mall and buying the rest of the HP books, since I only actually owned HBP, from a cool new edition from Bloomsbury. They didn't have CoS and GoF though so I had to order them. I also went to the fair in a nearby city about 30km from here called Moita. I've also been preparing for the matriculation (no idea if it's the right word here :P) for my third year in college.
On another not, I heard on the news today that the translated version of HBP will come out on October 15th but the weird part is: the translated title. I was like "wtf?" o.O It's Harry Potter e o Príncipe Misterioso, which would literally mean Harry Potter and the Mysterious Prince. Is that the best they could come up with? The other translations were so great!
Anyways, I'll shut up for now. I'll be catching up on everything but probably only from Saturday on so don't be surprised if you find my replies on entries dating two weeks back. LOL
It's here! It's finally here! This is the day! HP HBP is out!! YAY! No spoilers coming from me, don't worry. I actually have no idea of when I'll be reading this new book, I suspect it'll be in my to-read list for a while.
I also suspect that
cecine will be on hyper mode today! As will other people from my F-list, but I have to mention her in particular. And the first person in the world to hold a copy of HBP was a Portuguese little girl called Carlota who was in London, I believe. Yay for that too! It was all over the news! First they talked about HP and then they mentioned the political crysis in Brazil. The order of priorities shows us today is indeed a special day.
And now, as the devoted Echelon that I am, check this out:
