Even though the weather's still nice and warm around here, summer's long gone and autumn's making all the leaves fall, cluttering the backyard and forcing people (read: me) to spend some nice quality time with a broom sweeping them all away.
It all passed in the blink of an eye! I went to my first house-warming party! Yay for that! A horrifying reminder that I'm getting old. My friends are starting to get homes of their own! Still, house-warming parties are great, or so my experience has led me to believe. It's amazing what a balanced combination of food, alcohol and board games can do. Also, after a few hours, conversations start to get interesting. It seems that, relatively to the size of its body, the mussel has the largest penis of the animal world. Who said you didn't learn something new everyday?

FOOD!! Always important...

Chillin' on the couch! And my friend on the floor is NOT intoxicated, he's just a bad-timing-snapshot victim! =P

Here's proof that the evening was indeed A-OK! XD

Kitchen's are such great places to take pictures...

... Aren't they? =P

And this one I included only for the power of the t-shirt! XD
Another note-worthy event were the immensely enjoyable three days I had when
teresabloom graced us, humble hobbits XD, with her presence for a couple of days. From re-living childhood experiences through cartoons to barbecues and sightseeing, we did it all. And, in a moment of inspired random craziness, I took it upon myself to turn the recount of our KMP Gathering 2007 into an animated tale which I now present to the world, along with a few photos (cause, let's face it, quality of .gif files sucks).

Having lunch after the whole messy barbecue process! =P

In Sines, cause the background deserved a photo and we had a place to sit. XD

The honest truth: that's actually a little notebook and all of its pages are blank. XD

One could make whole comedy shows around the way pronounciation is described on those Basic English Phrases books. LOL
Apart from the occasional outting with friends to clear our heads, laugh and go crazy, the time I spent with my family was something new. Faced with the impossibility to have a proper vacation (i.e. a few days away from home to relax and gather energies) due to all of the unfortunate events of this year, along with the setting up of my father's "workshop" in our garage, I can't recall a summer when we spent so much time together as a family. In our case, being generally unbalanced, that means plenty of fun too and some joke-worthy moments to go along with it.
THE SWOLLEN PARENTS - THEATRICAL PRODUCTION
*morning*
MOM: ZOMG! My face is swelling! It must be a tooth infection!
ME: You look like a stuntwoman straight out of Rocky VII!!
MOM: ZOMG! The left side of my face looks like a potato! I shall now go to the doctor's!!
ME: About time Chipmunk! ... Is that Eye of the Tiger playing in the background?
*afternoon*
BROTHER: Dad! Wasps are all over the place! RUN!!
DAD: Ha! I am invencible! Wasps can't hurt me!
WASP: *stings*
DAD: Oh noes! Rightbeneath in the eye! Now the left side of my face is partially swollen!
ME: Way to go, Chipmunk!
BROTHER: Eeehhhmmm... Wait... hadn't you said that before?
ME: *despairs*
BROTHER: Monkey see, monkey does...
The very day summer ended was marked by an event that makes me grin stupidly in pride. My brother had his first concert, along with the band he was in at the time (I understand they've disbanded and were reformed with new members since then) called Walk the Line. It was a small affair in an old building belonging to a local sports/entertainment association. The audience was composed of friends and family, some, like my parents, enjoying their very first rock concert. It was very exciting looking at the stage, simple and rudimentary as it was, and seeing my brother on it, focused on his music and not making any mistakes. Yeah, I'm a proud sister, I'm not making any secret of it. =P I happen to think my brother's quite a talented bass player.

Do forgive the bad quality. The lighting conditions did nothing to help my poor little camera.
So these are the highlights of a summer that rushed by, even though I begged it not to, signifying my kicking my own arse into action and start posting at LJ again. I've been extremely negligent to the poor thing lately. *pets it*
